Campfire pizza

From the wood-fired oven to the campfire!

Who hasn't tasted wood-fired oven-baked pizza in a specialty restaurant? Today, we are providing a simple camping-appropriate adaptation. Buon appetito!

Ingredients

For four people

1 package of pizza dough (about 391 g).
1 package grated mozzarella cheese (about 340 g).
1 package of sliced pepperoni (about 250 g).
2-3 bell peppers, chopped (red, green, yellow and/or orange).
1 chopped onion.
1 can of pizza sauce (approximately 213 mL/7.5 oz.).
A little bit of flour (to prevent the pizza dough from sticking when stretching it out).
Butter or margarine (to butter "Camp Cooker").

Preparation

  1. Prepare your fire, if it is not already done!
  2. Chop the onion and peppers (if not already done).
  3. Cut the pizza dough into 8 small equal portions (2 for each person).
  4. Sprinkle a bit of flour over each serving and stretch out the pizza dough (each serving stretched should cover one side of "Camp Cooker").
  5. Butter each side of the "Camp Cooker" and place a portion of pizza dough on each side.
  6. Add the sauce, pepperoni, chopped onions, chopped peppers and mozzarella cheese (to taste) over one side only.
  7. Close the "Camp Cooker" and place it directly in the fire or on the embers.
  8. Cook for about 6 minutes per side. Cooking time may vary according to your taste and the strength of your fire, so don't be afraid to check from time to time.
  9. Remove from fire and serve!
